SHINee tries something new: Men in suits

The “idol” group SHINee that celebrates its sixth anniversary this year has attempted a new look—suits— with confidence.

On February 20, there was a showcase for the group’s third official album Dream Girl at the handball Arena in Seoul Olympic Park. In prior to the official ceremony, all members of SHINee (On.U, Key, Jong Hyun, Min Ho, and Tae Min) appeared in a press conference and shared some episodes when preparing for the album and plans for further activities.

As you can see in the album jacket, SHINee expressed their mature sentiments with suits. About the new costume, the group said, “After the debut, we’ve kept such a unique, maniac concept and music over all, and it has become our image. We wanted to keep that but also try music in a comprehensive sense.”

“We could tell that we getting old,” the group continued, “and for each album, we prepared it having our age in consideration. Once again, we wanted to appeal with a cheerful, playful young men image. We had never worn suit on stage on purpose so that we can appeal with mature charm this time.”

They concluded, “We’re wearing suits but also with something that is unique about us. You’ll be able to see some SHINee-like charms with special props such as colorful suits.”

The showcase was host by Jun Hyun Moo and it had a bright atmosphere. The singers sang their title track “Dream Girl” and some other songs that are also listed on the album such as “Aside” and “Beautiful” along with their hits, “Sherlock,” “Lucifer,” and “Noona Is So Pretty” in front of a thousand people in the audience.
