SHINee‘s Jonghyun may be an otaku. The idol star bared his obsession with anime on the February 19th broadcast of MBC Music‘s ‘SHINee’s Wonderful Day‘.

 

On his trip to Japan, Jonghyun spent a day in an animation mall, looking through loot from anime series like ‘One Piece‘ and ‘Gundam‘. He mentioned that even during promotions with SHINee, he studied Japanese in order to understand anime better.

 

Jonghyun was also disappointed by the high prices of some souvenirs, like a 3D Gundam image for 2,700 Japanese yen (35,000 KRW; ~32.50 USD). He was pretty satisfied with how he spent his free time, however. He said happily, “Spending a day with anime in Japan felt like I was returning to my childhood roots. It was romantic.“

NU’EST’s Ren gets confused as a member of Hello Venus

HaHa must have watched one too many extreme food shows. The singer and TV personality decided to create his own special heart-attack hamburger.

 

On the latest QTV‘s ‘Porridge Making Woman Undying Man‘, HaHa and his mother were given high quality Korean beef for a cooking competition. For his own dish, HaHa slapped a huge piece of meat on top of a burger patty and topped it all off with a large amount of cheese and mayonnaise.

 

Kim Won Hee came out as a guest to taste the dishes, and her eyes went huge after seeing HaHa’s monstrous burger. She claimed, “This is going to go over 10,000 calories,” snapping a bunch of photos of HaHa’s cooking process for her food blog.

SISTAR’s Hyorin talks like a guy before going on stage?

On the February 20th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Vitamin‘, SISTAR‘s Hyorin revealed an interesting vocal technique.

 

When asked how she maintains her trademark husky voice, Hyorin shared, “I talk in a low voice. Because my family’s vocal chords are generally weak, if we get together and talk, we get hoarse easily. Because it’s something I’m born with, I pay attention to taking care of my voice.”

 

She continued to say that she purposefully lowers her voice before going on stage. “If I’m not feeling well, you can immediately tell by my voice. Before I go on stage, I talk to release my throat or else it closes up. So I talk in a low pitched voice to bring the least stress to my vocal chords.”

 

Bora added, “As long as I don’t catch a bad cold, I have a naturally high tone. My voice is the opposite of Hyorin’s, and I think that’s the secret to our success.”

SHINee will perform their new song with standing mikes

 

SHINee will perform with standing mikes in a distinctive way.

 

On February 19, SHINee released all tracks from their third album, Dream Girl, on such music sites as iTunes. The lead track “Dream Girl” is an acid electronic punk number that highlights each member’s distinctive style based on SHINee’s musical style.

 

The choreography for the song is very dynamic and difficult. Tony Testa, the choreographer, who created the choreography of Michael Jackson’s “This Is It,” SHINee’s “Sherlock,” and TVXQ’s “Catch Me,” created the choreography using mikes.

 

Using five standing mikes that are 1.3 meters high and weigh 4 kilograms, he portrayed the challenging, dynamic look of SHINee.

 

SHINee will hold a showcase in celebration of their comeback at the Handball Stadium in the Olympic Park on February 20 at 8:00 p.m. After that, they’ll perform on Mnet’s M Countdown on Feburary 21, MBC TV’s Show! Music Core on 23, and SBS TV’s Inkigayo on 24.

2NE1′s Park Bom recently talked about her goal for this year.

 

Park recently did a photo shoot for the fashion magazine Allure Korea. Using flowers, which matches her name Bom (Bom means “spring” in Korean), Park shows off an innocent look unlike the charismatic look she has shown before.

 

Saying that she normally doesn’t go out without wearing eye makeup, she did the photo shoot without wearing eye makeup for the first time since her debut. Without heavy eye makeup, she wore eye shadow of colors for spring.

JYJ chosen as honorary ambassador for 2014 Incheon Asian Games

 

JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong recently talked how he feels about being an honorary ambassador for a state function.

 

On February 20, JYJ attended an appointment ceremony, which was held at Lotte Hotel in Seoul for the ’2014 Incheon Asian Games.’

 

At the ceremony, Kim said, “I think we should satisfy and enrich the public with music. We are honored and thankful to have this great chance to promote the event to the public.”

 

“Since we perform abroad a lot, we can promote Korean culture and I think that makes us to grow.”

Kim added that he enjoys watching table tennis and badminton during the Asian Games.

 

He also talked about how he feels about being an honorary ambassador, “We’re honored to join this important and historical event. We’ll do our best to promote K-pop and the event.”

 

JYJ is recognized as a powerful Hallyu star and earned a nickname as a singer specialized in state functions. The group will also attend ‘The 18th Inaugural Ceremony,’ which will be held on February 25. The group was an honorary ambassador for the ’2012 Nuclear Security Summit,’ ‘Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo,’ and ‘New 7 Wonders of Nature in Jeju.’

Kim Woo Bin: “I was in the top 5 of the whole school”

Kim Woo Bin recently talked about his school life.

SHINee eats well while on the road

SHINee members are drawing a lot of attention with their big appetites.

 

On the February 19 episode of MBC Music’s SHINee’s One Fine Day, SHINee members went on a surprise trip while preparing for their new EP.

 

Onew went to Thailand, Jong Hyun went to Japan, Tae Min went to Sweden, and Min Ho and Key went to the United Kingdom.

 

On the episode, SHINee members went to restaurants and enjoyed delicious food.

 

Onew looked like a culinary specialist and Key worried about gaining weight even after one cup of coffee. Tae Min made people laugh by being honest about the taste of the coffee.

Yoo In Na’s ‘Volume Up’ achieves the highest radio ratings for its time slot

Research shows that more people are tuning into actress Yoo In Na‘s radio program, KBS Cool FM‘s ‘Volume Up‘, than other programs in its time slot!

 

According to a Korean research conduced from January 8th to 14th, Yoo In Na’s radio program achieved the highest radio ratings out of the three terrestrial broadcasting networks between 8~10PM. The actress kept the ears of her audience from turning away with her bright and bubbly personality along with her sweet voice.

 

Yoo In Na became a DJ for ‘Volume Up’ back in November 2011 by taking over Choi Kang Hee‘s position, who had to step down due to her busy schedule.

 

In other news, the actress will be making a small-screen comeback through KBS’s new weekend drama ‘You’re the Best Lee Soon Shin‘, which will premiere on March 9th.

Former Jewelry member Lee Ji Hyun (30) has revealed her plans for marriage!

 

Her agency Well Made Star M broke the news on the 20th stating, “Lee Ji Hyun will get married next month on the 24th at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido. Only the wedding date has been determined, details on the wedding ceremony and reception haven’t been confirmed yet.”

 

Lee Ji Hyun served as one of the original members of Jewelry. She left the group in 2006, handing over her reign, and starting her career as an actress.

 

The husband-to-be is said to be a non-celebrity who is 7 years older.

Lee Hi is said to be returning to her roots as she once again graces the stage of ‘K-Pop Star‘ as part of her upcoming comeback!

 

According to a broadcast insider, the former ‘K-Pop Star’ contestant will be holding her first comeback stage through the live broadcast of ‘K-Pop Star 2′ on March 10th after releasing her 1st album on March 7th.

 

For those of you who aren’t familiar, Lee Hi finished in 2nd place on the first season of ‘K-Pop Star’ and was quickly taken in by Yang Hyun Suk to join YG Family. She made her debut soon after with “1, 2, 3, 4” which ranked #1 on major music charts and grabbed wins on music programs, setting records as a rookie.

 

Apparently, the ‘monster rookie’s album was due out on March 1st, but ended up being postponed to collaborate with the audition program. This change is said to have artists who were planning for a comeback around March 7th panicking for despite her petite stature, there lies a powerful and soulful voice that is out to once again capture the hearts of music fans.

Hyun Bin to charm fans in Taiwan with first fan meeting since discharge

Hyun Bin‘s first official event after being discharged from the army will be a fan meeting in Taiwan with the selected lucky fans!

 

While it’s true that Korean fans have been waiting just as much for his return, he has already met them unofficially through various CFs. Teasing his domestic fans further, he has decided to visit his Taiwanese fans first on March 9th. While he’s in Taiwan, he’ll still be working and looking over various scripts for his comeback project.

 

There are rumors floating around for a drama, but it appears he has his sights set on a movie for his comeback. Hyun Bin’s agency confirmed such sentiment and stated, “It’s true that he’s getting a lot of love calls from movies and dramas. But he’s leaning more towards a movie. He had a lot of interest in acting from before his enlistment, and he wants to meet his fans through a project, so he’ll be making a decision soon. SBS’ ‘Incarnation’ kicks off to a good start

SBS’ new variety program ‘Incarnation‘ (formerly known as ‘Strong Heart 2‘) kicked off to a positive start.

 

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, the first episode of ‘Incarnation’, which aired on February 19th, averaged an 8.4% viewer rating. Although that’s a 1.9% decrease from the final episode of ‘Strong Heart’, the new program managed to beat out the rival Tuesday variety shows in its time slot.

 

The first episode of ‘Incarnation’ focused on the theme “How to not lose against your girlfriend in an argument” and featured comedian Lee Soo Geun, singers Kim Jong Min, Eun Ji Won, and TV personality Jun Hyun Moo as guests.

 

Meanwhile, KBS‘ ‘Moonlight Prince‘ and MBC‘s ‘PD Notebook’ received 3.5% and 3.8%, respectively.

Super Junior-M Holds First Fan Party in Thailand

 

Super Junior‘s Mandarin sub unit Super Junior-M held their first fan meeting in Thailand.

 

On February 16 Super Junior-M met with 5000 of their fans at Thunder Dome in Bangkok, Thailand for their “2013 Super Junior-M Party [Break Down] in Bangkok.”

 

At the fan meeting Super Junior-M not only performed their songs but showed their individual charms and even demonstrated their Thai language skills in a special talk time with their fans. The members also participated in a quiz about Thailand and took photos with their fans.

 

The fans also gave Super Junior-M a gift with a special event called “Cuz it’s U, wo zhiai ni” (which roughly translates to “I love you because of who you are”).

 

Super Junior-M will continue their “Break Down” promotions with fan meetings in Taiwan and China.

Jonghyun clears up misunderstandings related to dropping out of high school

Jonghyun cleared up what he really meant in an earlier interview.

 

The interview for Nylon with SHINee was revealed earlier today, where he was asked, “What do you especially regret?“. He answered, “Dropping out. I don’t think it was that great to drop out of high school to go to the music school. I felt like I was wasting my time studying back then, but now that I look back on it, I don’t think it had to be like that. But still, it’s not that I have a lot of regret and feel guilty.”

 

After he read how his own words came out in the interview, he must have realized that it was open to some misinterpretation. So Jonghyun took to his Twitter to clarify what he really meant by sharing, “Going to Smi (Seoul Music Institute) was the most important turning point in my life, and the best decision. There must have been a miscommunication of some sort. I feel disappointed about it all, but I don’t have any regrets.

MBLAQ’s Mir gets tricked by a hidden camera prank on ‘All the K-Pop’ and sheds tears

 

On the February 19th broadcast of MBC Music‘s ‘All the K-pop‘, MC Mir got tricked by a hidden camera prank and was brought to tears.

 

During the hidden camera event set up, a fortune teller purposely gave Mir a false fortune and stated, “If you didn’t become a celebrity, you were destined to become a shaman.” Another fortune teller followed along on the prank and spooked Mir by telling him, “I feel the energy of a snake ghost coming from Mir”, which especially freaked him out because he recently came back from a real-life jungle while recording for ‘Laws of the Jungle‘.

 

The serious atmosphere on set seemed to be too much for Mir to handle in addition to his fright and the filming was momentarily stopped.

 

After shedding tears backstage, Mir responded, “This is my first time being surprised by a hidden camera. Because I heard stories of snake ghosts after filming ‘Laws of the Jungle’, I didn’t suspect anything at all.”

INFINITE sells out all tickets to their fanmeet ‘Infinite Rally’

Tickets to INFINITE‘s fanmeeting ‘Infinite Rally‘ sold out immediately upon going on sale.

 

The boys prepared the special fanmeeting with their fans for March 1st. Tickets were first made available to official fanclub members on February 12th and ticket sales to non official fanclub members opened up on February 18th.

 

As you can probably imagine with INFINITE’s popularity, the ticketing site had a surge of traffic with thousands of people trying to buy tickets. Unfortunately there isn’t an infinite amount of tickets as within moments of going on sale to the general public, less than 10 tickets were left, and of course the remaining were sold not too long after.

 

The boys have been keeping busy even though 2013 has just begun. Do you think they’ll be taking over in 2013 as well?

Verbal Jint reveals a ‘couple shot’ taken with Ailee

Rapper Verbal Jint recently uploaded a ‘couple photo’ taken with soloist Ailee.

 

Verbal Jint updated his Twitter page on February 19 with the post, “If this isn’t a teaser… Then what is,” along with the ‘couple photo’ shown above.

 

Ailee will be featuring in Verbal Jint’s new single titled “If It Ain’t Love“, scheduled to be released on the 21st. Fans are looking forward to this collaboration as the two have previously worked together for Ailee’s “Into the Storm“, which was included in her mini album entitled ‘Invitation‘.

 

Upon seeing the photo, followers commented, “Can’t wait for the release!“, “The song is going to be daebak“, and “This is going to be another great collaboration.”

Yewon shares her thoughts on working with Dongjun

No matter how pretty she is, it seems like Yewon is just like any other girl in the manner that she can still be swept off her feet by handsome gentlemen.

 

As we reported before, she will be joining Dongjun and Jihyun on a special for ‘Love and War‘. The drama special held a press conference on the 19th, and it was here where she confessed, “I thought he was just young and naive, but I realized that age really is just a number when I saw him excel at sports and be a responsible person on ‘Dream Team’.”

 

The two are actually both under Star Empire and she is 3 years older than he is. Even despite this, she was still concerned that she might fall for him while they were acting together. She said, “I never knew we’d meet as a couple. I think I might fall for him when we act out being a newlywed couple. It means I’m that I have that much sole focus on the character, so I want to receive new feelings and act this time.”

 

How do you think the two will look as a couple? Looking at the picture above, it looks like Yewon would be quite nervous. The first episode of the drama special will air at 11PM KST on March 8th.

Boyfriend have yet to turn a profit?

Boyfriend confessed that they had yet to turn a profit on ‘Beatles Code‘.

 

The boys have been in the industry for a year and 8 months now, and they’ve had quite a successful run, especially with their latest songs “Janus” and “I Yah“. However, it seems like that wasn’t enough to make a profit.

 

On ‘Beatles Code‘, MC Tak Jae Hoon asked the members, “When did you see the biggest profit after you debuted?“.

 

Whatever answer the MC was expecting, it wasn’t the one he got, as the boys answered, “We haven’t broken even yet, so don’t really have an income.” Despite this, the members added brightly, “But our CEO still gave us allowance telling us we worked hard for the Lunar New Year. We got 1,000,000 KRW (approximately $930 USD) each.”

 

But even their optimism was shot down when MC Jang Dong Min jokingly (yet painfully truthfully) point out, “If you worked part time at a PC cafe for 1 year and 8 months, you would have made more than that.”

We would like to announce what BOYFRIEND has mentioned regarding their revenue on Mnet ‘Beatles Code Season 2’ is different from the truth. :)

 

Revenue earned in and out of the country since their debut was all distributed to the members. The boys were aware of the distribution system very well, but DongHyun misunderstood MC’s question “How much is the most money you’ve ever had on hand?”, and thought he has never had on his hand because their revenue is directly transferred to their account. [sic]

 

The situation was made by misunderstanding, so please do not worry about the members :)
