Suzy recently made her first appearance in the TV drama series The Gu
Family Book, showing the charm of an unruly girl, unlike her former image
of a girl who’s found her first love.
On April 15, watching the special project drama series airing on MBC titled
The Gu Family Book (written by Gang Eun Gyung, directed by Shin Woo
Chul and Kim Jung Hyun), viewers were captivated by Suzy’s character, Dam Yeo
Wool, who is reckless but innocent. Dam Yeo Wool is Dam Pyeong Jun’s only
daughter and an instructor of the Muhyeongdogwan, who is positive and
passionate. In the episode that aired that day, Dam Yeo Wool starts off
traveling in secret to inspect a strange murder case and runs into Choi Gang Chi
(played by Lee Seung Ki).
Appearing for the first time in the third episode, Suzy was in a scene in
which her character has her palm read, wondering whether she will meet her “Mr.
Right.” She seems to be tomboyish and innocent. She saves the endangered Choi
Gang Chi with her righteous mind. In the scene in which Dam Yeo Wool runs away
with Choi Gang Chi, her hat comes off, so Suzy’s long, straight hair flies in
the wind, fascinating viewers with her purity. Changing her image from “the icon
of first love” to “the unruly innocent girl,” Suzy got good reviews for her
first appearance as Dam Yeo Wool.
The Gu Family Book ranked number one in the Nielsen Korea ratings,
recording 13.6 percent of the viewing audience.
