The Filipino KPop community was once again hustling and bustling over the
weekend, as Korean boy group 2PM arrived in the Philippines last Friday, March
1, 2013.
Ok Taecyeon, Nichkhun, Jun. K, Lee Junho, Jang Wooyoung and Hwang Chansung –
collectively known as 2PM – are scheduled for a one-night concert dubbed as“What
Time Is It” on March 2, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Achieving global status for their hit singles “Hands Up,” “Heart Beat,”
“Again and Again” and “Crazy Over You,” the 2PM boys once again affirmed their
popularity with their recently released Japanese album. “The Legend of 2PM”,
which went out in the market last February 13, is currently ranked at number 1
in the Japan Oricon Charts.
Shortly after their arrival, the boys held a Press
Conference at the Manila Hotel, where they gamely took turns answering questions
from the media. However, only five of them are present as Chansung was still in
Korea filming for his drama. The boys assured though, that Chansung will be
there at the concert.
“First of all, the view is great. Just look outside
the window of my hotel room,” began Taecyeon. “When we got off the airplane and
we came out to the airport, there were some fans waiting for us and we are very
grateful and it was very nice to see you,” he continued, his English
impeccable.
Wooyoung then went on saying that “since it’s our
first concert here in the Philippines, we will try to show our best effort
tomorrow.”
When asked as to what sets 2PM apart from the other
boy groups, Nickchun, who is also an endorser for the Filipino clothing line
Bench, answered, “I think it’s our friendship and our teamwork and also honesty.
We’re very honest about our feelings whether we’re on TV, off TV and we try to
show our true nature to the public as well. I think that’s one of the reasons
why people feel that they can relate to us, in a way. We love each other very
much.”
To wrap up the Press Conference, the boys left
messages for their Filipino fans:
Jun. K was very enthusiastic in saying, “Mahal na halo-halo,” to which the
crowded responded with chuckles. He corrected
himself with a smile, “Mahal ko Filipinos. Mahal ko Philippines.” (I love
Filipinos. I love the Philippines.)
Wooyoung made the crowd swoon when he said, “Mahal kita. Salamat po.” (I love
you. Thank you.)
But it was Junho’s adorable though grammatically incorrect, “Miss you kita”
that made the crowd burst into hearty laughter.
