Kim Jong Kook Races Through Hearts in Singapore Fanmeet

Kim Jong Kook was in Singapore last weekend for his very first solo fan-meet. The fearless commander of popular variety programme Running Man showed his ‘soft’ gentleman side, and had the audience swooning and cheering to no end. His popularity (as well as Running Man) was beyond imaginable, as the venue was completely filled up with families, couples and fans (fanboys included!). A full house it was, the atmosphere really felt like a full-blown concert.

The Gentleman with Muscles
Given nicknames like Sparta Kook, Commander and even associated with the animal ‘Tiger’, his fierce manly nature is evident in Running Man, as he rips off name-tags within his sight. But fear not, as beneath that muscled solid torso lies an endearing sweet balladeer. He crooned to 7 songs throughout the 2-hour fan-meet last Friday night, including hits like ‘Men Are All Like That’, ‘Don’t Be Good To Me’ and ‘One Man’.

“Thank you for coming. I actually didn’t expect many to come. I will show my best!” said the humble Commander.

A Romantic, with a Touch of Humour
After singing ‘Men Are All Like That’ off his latest album, Jong Kook clarified that although he wrote the song, he is not like that kind of men. He then introduced a song off his 4th album that he picked specially for fans at his fan-meet, entitled ‘Saying I Love You’ and featured one of his love-lines, actress Yoon Eun Hye. The music video played on stage and had the fans going ‘aww’ to the skinship and loving scenes between the two. Jong Kook was seen smiling bashfully and taking sneak peeks at the videoscreen behind him while singing.

Possible Running Man Episode in Singapore?
Jong Kook promised to let his Producer-Director(PD) know about the huge interest and love that fans in Singapore had for Running Man. (So hold onto that hope, who knows the team of 7 may be running somewhere close to you soon!)

Jong Kook Soft Side Towards Fans
Some lucky fans were picked to go on stage and participate in physical interaction activities like Flamingo Game and Tug-of-War. Jong Kook’s warmness and soft nature was evident when he was pushed out of the marked area and lost the game. Stating reasons such as ‘She’s a Korean!’ and ‘There are too many females here, this is hard’, resulting in all 6 pairs winning a photography opportunity with the man himself. His spontaneous fan-service went beyond handshakes and hugs as he pats the back of a crying fan-girl on stage and gave shout-outs to an audience member when requested by a fan.

One of the highlights was when a 6-year-old boy surprised everyone by singing a snippet of ‘Men Are All Like That’ on stage during the singing competition. The tough decision to decide a winner between the 3 participants was settled easily with a smile by the little boy, whom Jong Kook described as ‘cool’.

“This is my love for you,” said Sparta Kook as he danced away to the upbeat song ‘Lovable’. Fans were seen up on their feet dancing along, and singing to the lyrics. To satisfy and appease the hyped fans, ‘One Man’ was sung for the encore and the night came to a close. Thanking fans, Jong Kook shared that he hoped to bring along his Running Man crew the next time he meets fans in Singapore.

Korea.com would like to extend our thanks to organizer Mode Entertainment for the kind invitation to cover this event. Stay tuned for more exciting events!

Yoo Jae Suk is satisfied with his current roster of programs?

With the recent ending of one of his longest-running programs, MBC‘s ‘Come to Play‘, one would think that the ‘nation’s MC’ would have a hankering for a new program to host. However, according to his acquaintances, Yoo Jae Suk has no plans to host another program in the near future, they said.

His current schedule has him filming ‘Running Man‘ on Mondays and Tuesdays, ‘Infinity Challenge‘ on Thursdays, and ‘Happy Together‘ on Saturdays. Since there is a day of rest between each filming, he is able to spend more time with his friends and family and remain better focused on his work, striking the perfect balance for the hardworking MC. Although proposals are streaming in from programs that hope to gain the ‘nation’s MC’, he has been reportedly turning them down.

However, that doesn’t mean he won’t ever try his hands at a new show. He didn’t rule out a possibility of returning to four weekly programs if an especially promising proposal or suggestion is made.

With delay comes anticipation, so all eyes are on the beloved MC to see if he’ll be able to work his magic on whatever show he may take up next.

Kum Eung Soo reveals Yoo Jae Suk was shocked by ‘Come to Play’ cancellation

Actor and former ‘Come to Play‘ cast member Kim Eung Soo revealed that even the ‘nation’s MC’ suffered from his moments of melancholy, detailing the last few days of the ill-fated MBC talk program.

As a part of the show’s ‘True Man Show‘ segment, the actor was part of a cast that included not only Yoo Jae Suk, but Jay Park, Kim Won Hee, Eun Ji Won, and Kwon Oh Joong. “When we filmed the final episode, we didn’t know it would be the final episode,” he recalled sadly.

“I was participating in a play in Japan then,” he said. “I briefly went back to Korea to film, but that was the last time. The broadcast was getting more interesting, so it was even more baffling when it was canceled.”

The actor hadn’t received a call from the producers, he said. “I was confused that I found out about the cancellation through the Internet.”

Although the producers apologized later, the shock wouldn’t dissipate easily. “It defies common sense,” Kim Eung Soo said. “Not for us, but more so for the viewers. It’s been receiving love for eight years. How angry were the viewers when they turned on the TV and ‘Come to Play’ wasn’t there anymore? Programs can be canceled and replaced, but this is close to violence. If a program that I loved for eight years was replaced, I would’ve been very angry.”

Kim Eung Soo also mentioned that he holds no grudges against the producers. “What crime have they committed?” he said, directing his anger towards the higher-ups. “A group with that kind of thinking is dangerous.”

“We held a party later,” he continued. “The producer, Shin Jung Soo, said everything was his fault, from the poor ratings to the eventual cancellation, but it wasn’t because of him.”

“Yoo Jae Suk was very shocked as well,” he said. “He was also very sorry towards me. Since the ‘True Man Show’ was a response to the falling ratings, we believed that we needed to wait and watch for one year at least. At the very beginning, we needed time to create a concept. We were beginning to see a path forward and had confidence.”

“He has a very well-anchored frame of mind,” he said. “It was thanks to him that ‘Come to Play’ became so fun. The program had been a part of MBC for eight years. That’s not the way you’re supposed to treat that kind of program.”

Park Shi Hoo Tried to Settle with “A” for 100 Million KRW + Other Updates

It has been reported that Park Shi Hoo has tried to settle with victim “A,” who sued him for sexual assault.

On February 26, TV Chosun reported that Park Shi Hoo tried to settle with victim “A” but to no avail. According to the report, Park Shi Hoo’s representatives offered 100 million KRW (roughly around $92,000 USD) to victim “A.” However, victim “A’s” reps reportedly asked for more than the offered amount and refused to come to an agreement.

We previously reported on some new witness statements by victim “A’s” friend, “B.” Friend “B” claimed that victim “A” had been drugged by Park Shi Hoo and rookie actor “K,” who was also present at the time. However, tests resulted negative in finding any traces of drugs in victim “A’s” body.

On February 25, Park Shi Hoo’s lawyers released an official statement about friend “B’s” remarks. They said, “The interview with ‘B’ is all a set-up by ‘A’s’ reps and it is not true at all.”

Park Shi Hoo’s lawyers continued, “Park Shi Hoo has a low alcohol capacity but that night, he was feeling good so he mixed fruit juice, ice and soju and drank about 10 glasses in 3 hours.”

They stated, “Ms. ‘A’ reported to the police that she lost her consciousness for about 13 hours from when she entered Park Shi Hoo’s home to when she got out. Seeing as how she can remember little details that one doesn’t normally remember, her credibility has fallen.”

“Ms. ‘A’ woke up at around 2PM the next day and returned to her home. This was checked through the CCTV in the elevators,” and “Ms. ‘A’ exchanged texts with ‘K’ the next day to check up on each other,” they emphasized

Park Shi Hoo’s lawyers also spoke about why he didn’t show up for the first two summons. “Park Shi Hoo was willing to state his case to the police but he was in the process of switching legal representation so he lost the chance to go.”

Park Shi Hoo’s next summons date is March 1. If he does not show up, an arrest warrant may be released.

The comedian Shin Bora appeared on Teen Top’s music video for “Miss Right” and L.Joe kissed her on top of her mask. Recently at a Teen Top showcase, L.Joe talked about the infamous “Mask Kiss.”

The Teen Top 1st official album showcase was held at the Interpark Art Center on February 26. At this, the show case MC stated, “You should concede some kiss scenes to the other members?”
L.Joe answered, “I think I am the best at kiss scenes.”

Chunji then retorted, “I don’t think that is true.”

“Running Man” PD Doesn’t Understand How Lee Kwang Soo Is So Popular

“Running Man” PD Doesn’t Understand How Lee Kwang Soo Is So Popular

As SBS “Running Man” aired the “Asian Race” special over the past two weeks, Lee Kwang Soo‘s incredible popularity in Macao and Vietnam garnered much attention. He was welcomed everywhere he went, more so than any other “Running Man” members.

Producer Cho Hyo Jin of “Running Man” commented, “I wrote this in the subtitles of the show too, but I really don’t understand why or how he is so popular. I’m guessing it’s because he’s become so much funnier recently. According to Yoo Jae Suk, ‘the god of variety shows help Kwang Soo.’ It’s rather mysterious how he became so popular.”

Producer Cho Hyo Jin also explained that although Kwang Soo seemed to be exceptionally popular on the show, all “Running Man” members were evenly welcomed, with similar numbers of placards and signs. She emphasized Kwang Soo’s unexpected popularity once again, “The way people were calling for his name was so powerful. It won’t be a hyperbole to compare his popularity to that of Jang Dong Gun.”

The producer also commented on Kwang Soo’s reaction. She said, “He was really happy to see everyone so excited to see him. But it was more in the embarrassed way than the arrogant one.” Meanwhile, “Running Man” had the “Asian Race” in Macao and around major landmarks in Vietnam. On Feburary 10, the prequel of “The Secrets of Nine Swords” will be aired.
